ā€˜A time of peace and careā€™: Holiday message from Principal Alexandra Gillespie

ā€œIt's more than just OK to pause and rest; it's the good and right thing to doā€Ā Ā

In a holiday message to the community, Alexandra Gillespie, University of Toronto vice-president and principal of Ā鶹ֱ²„app Mississauga, wished ā€œshining moments of celebration, love and joyā€ to students, alumni, staff, faculty and librarians.

ā€œThis is a time of peace and care ā€“ and a time to take a breath,ā€ Gillespie said. ā€œIt's more than just OK to pause and rest; it's the good and right thing to do.ā€

Gillespie, a professor of medieval and Renaissance literature, noted that the winter break also marks the beginning of a six-month sabbatical during which she will focus on her research. During her leave, Ian Orchard, a professor emeritus who previously served as Ā鶹ֱ²„app vice-president and principal of Ā鶹ֱ²„app Mississauga, will step back into the role in an acting capacity.

ā€œHere's to friends, family and bright holidays together,ā€ Gillespie said. ā€œI hope that yours are filled with all the people who matter most to you.ā€
